We made a decision

A few weeks ago I was hemming and hawing over whether or not to get the AFP test done on this here babe. Actually the test wouldn’t actually be on the baby, but on my blood.

Either way, we decided not to do it.

Normally, I walk on the side of needing to know everything about everything, preparing myself for every possible situation. And normally, that tendency makes me a crazy nervous wreck as I spend all of my time thinking about all possible situations.

I didn’t want the second half of my pregnancy to be about that.

So, I said to Ross about a week ago that my gut was telling me not to do it. He confirmed my gut’s sentiments by saying “Good, I don’t want to do it either.”

And that was that. It felt good that for our first decision in raising this child, we were on the same page.

(Incidentally, thank you to everyone who gave their advice. Your willingness to share your thoughts gave me all kinds of warm fuzzy feelings.)

  1. We struggled with the same issue and made the same decision. If we knew how stressful our pregnancy would be, we might have opted out of ultrasounds, too! Ross had better enjoy snuggling the dog, because those days are coming to an end…

  2. I’m glad to hear it! Although you have to make the choice that is right for you, I’m glad you went this direction. Enjoy your pregnancy, except the crying parts. Don’t those suck?
