One doesn't *become* a Southern lady. You either are, or you're not. No amount of acclimation will make up for a lack of upbringing based on bare feet, good manners, and the mastery of puddling rather than sweating.

I think the belly is cute and not HUGE, even though it feels like it. You have that "all baby" look. Not an ounce anywhere by baby.....

I'd never really thought about it, but Jennifer described it perfectly -- I did feel hollow at first. At the time I thought it was just the absence of the giant belly, but this makes sense too.

Well, you ARE going to be evicting a relatively large volume of baby. I assume you've noticed that your bladder and your diaphragm aren't exactly where they used to be (heh). All the other squishy stuff is shifted aside as well. Both times I birthed I felt extraordinarily hollow in the middle at first, then over the next day or two everything mooooooooved back. It wasn't like SLAM or anything.

Yeah, you'll keep up the constant peeing for a few days after the baby comes to shed water, but it's not like you aren't used to it. You'll also get to feel all your innards shifting back to their previous positions over the first couple of days postpartum, which I found to be one of the weirder experiences of pregnancy (and one nobody mentioned). The good thing is that *all* your weight seems to be baby and not padding, so it should go away quickly.

so much of the weight is fluid. i lost like 20 lbs in the first week after birth. i feel certain the same will be true for you.

hang in there - you're almost there!
