I thought the whole no deli meat thing was bad
(Yes, it’s true. You’re not supposed to have cold deli meat when you’re pregnant.)
Around 3pm yesterday afternoon, my throat started to get a little scratchy. By 10pm last night, it was burning. The culprit? A waterfall of congestion coming from my sinuses. That was a lovely picture, wasn’t it?
Last night was rough. There was much waking up to gargle with warm water and pound glasses of cold water. And general moping, let’s not forget that.
Turns out, it’s best to avoid over-the-counter antihistamines and decongestants while pregnant because there’s so much junk in them that could potentially hurt the baby.
So I guess it’s just me and my faux neti pot.

It’s even worse when your nursing wife is dying of a head cold and doesn’t want to take an antihistimine/decongestant because it could dry her up too much, and the baby sounds like an old set of cold billows or an old horse after a long race. Something to look forward to…
Though I will admit that even when she’s miserable, Thea knows how to turn on that little baby smile.
I have really bad seasonal allergies, so my doctor gave me a list of several allergy medicines and antihistamines that she considers safe during pregnancy. Don’t suffer! Check with your doctor.
