Eats for the week! Sort of!

We’re phasing back into eats for the week. Hopefully we’ll be completely back in action next week.

Here’s our pitiful pile of food for the week:

(I’m standing in the background. And it’s possible that my pants are undone to make room for the end-of-day girth. Just sayin. It’s possible.)

The menu this week…I’m almost embarrassed to share it:

Sunday: Taco Bell!!!

Monday: McDonalds!!! Hey, we were at the school board meeting and then we realized it was almost 7pm and we had no food in the house. And we’re adults SO WE CAN GO TO MCDONALDS WHENEVER WE WANT STOP JUDGING.

Tuesday: Pasta and asparagus (with feta for Ross – not for me because soft cheese, bad for pregnancy, etc. etc. I never really liked feta anyway)

Wednesday: Cookout with old friends. Read: free meal sponsored by friends’ parents!

Thursday: Steak soft tacos with avocados and lime

Friday: Tortellini and argula

Grand total? Around $20.

I should explain now that our grocery budget is going to be considerably less now that our vegetable co-op has started for the year. That was initial output of some major cash, but it will supply our vegetables from now until mid-October.

So, no budget buster or deal of the week this time around. BABY STEPS PEOPLE.

  1. OMG — I got just this weird chill because I say, at least once a day (I swear) “I am an adult so I can go to McDonalds whenever I want.”

  2. I SO wish I could take part in a co-op this year. Unfortunately, since I’m splitting the summer between NYC and Chicago, it won’t be possible. Next year!!

  3. Hey, just so you know on the soft cheese thing, it’s okay as long as it’s pasteurized, and most of the cheese you can buy at the store is pasteurized, as long as it’s not fancy-shmancy. But if you want an excuse to avoid feta, work that one!

  4. Hey Val! Check out my blog post. There is a really cool way you can save some cash at Kroger. Hope you are well.
