Contemplating boundaries (and interest)

etc. — Valerie on October 24, 2008 at 4:01 pm

I’m getting an iPhone next week. My contract with Verizon is up, and we’ve decided it will not only be a great belated birthday present, but also quite helpful in keeping me on top of things at work.

Now the question:

To Twitter the birth or not?

You may begin…

  1. Do it! Make history! We won’t expect too many details, we promise. Just major milestones (aka “My water broke. Now we’re at the hospital. Now Ross has fainted”) etc. etc.

  2. I agree, twittering without too much detail is the way to go. You won’t feel like blogging for a few days I’m sure (or may not have time) so Twitter would be the perfect way to make the announcement.

  3. I’m pro twitter. Remember how Zoot blogged her way through NikkiZ’s birth? Crrraazeee.

  4. Yeah, I agree with the others… go for it!

  5. It’s been done already. Scoble was the first, back in September ’07 with his son, Milan. You should take it to the next level.

I hear Qik is planning a release of their video streaming software for the iPhone. The heck with Twitter — you should stream it.

To clarify, I don’t want to see the birth itself. I’ve had the pleasure of witnessing that twice with my daughter – no need to revisit.

I’m more interested in seeing Ross’ reaction.

  6. I say go for it! Of course, like the others, I agree that too much detail is out of the question, but you know other things like “Ross just asked me how I’m feeling, so I kicked him in the face” would be wonderfully entertaining! :)

  7. Jorge totally blackberried (on facebook) Lyra’s birth on the sly…I was okay with it. It was some deep father pride mixed w/ love of technology boy thing…I vote yes!
