Consumerism at its best
Comments in response to this post, brought my attention to Tater Mitts. Two thoughts come to my mind when I saw this web site and its accompanying video:
1. Peeling potatoes is not THAT hard.
2. This product is clearly a response to a first world problem. You go ahead and tell those villagers in Africa that you couldn’t help them build a well because you needed to peel a potato in eight seconds.
Plus, it looks like the gloves have barnacles on them. Personally, I want nothing to do with barnacles period, let alone in the vicinity of my food.

I saw the Tatermitts infomercial, and saw them again in Walgreens later that day.
Having those in your house seems like asking for the most horrible indian burn ever from an obnoxious guest.
That settles it. I’m writing the producers of American Gladiators to propose they include a TaterMitt Challenge next season.
How cool would it be to watch contestants make their way through a gauntlet people wearing TaterMitts?
[For the record, no, I don’t watch American Gladiators. I’m just thinking that it’s a target market for the TaterMitt crowd.]
For the record, American Gladiators is awesome.
