A possible confession
I *may* have had four Grands! Butter Tastin’ Biscuits, five pieces of bacon, half a container of strawberries, and two glasses of milk for dinner.
Maybe.

The food:

(You’ll notice bo-bo Cinnamon Toast Crunch in there. I had to, the baby wants it.)
The menu:
Monday: Tortellini and spinach
Tuesday: We kind of grazed on snacks
Wednesday: BLTs and avocado and tomato salad
Thursday: Szechuan broccoli, tofu, and rice
Friday: Turkey burgers and carrot fries
The total: $43
Deal Of The Week:

(That’s Ross being Italian in celebration.)
A giant bag of tortellini for $6 at Costco. We’ll eat it a million times and it’s an incredibly easy meal.
Budget Buster:
Fancy schmancy butter for almost $4. Because Ross is a pretty princess when it comes to things like butter and cheese.
So it’s Saturday. I’m late. Aaaannnnd useless. But at least you can get my review of the food!
Here’s the food, buds.
The menu…
Monday: Hot dogs and salad (mmmm, hot dogs)
Tuesday: Grilled cheese and salad (made with “fancy” cheese, i.e. cheddar)
Wednesday: Tuna (less than 6 oz. for me! Relax!) and green beans with toasted sesame seeds (DO YOU KNOW HOW ANNOYING IT IS TO CLEAN UP SPILLED SESAME SEEDS FROM YOUR STOVE TOP? VERY.)
Thursday: Hot dogs again, because we’re quite fat really (mmmm, hot dogs. Still.)
Friday: Potato, egg, and spinach tortilla (I had like three bites and it was cold by then because I had been out, but it was pretty good.)
Grand total: Approx. $25
Deal Of The Week…
Here’s the free tuna referenced here. Our friend Brock caught a bunch of it and he so kindly passed it along to us for free. I must say, it was delicious.
And The Budget Buster…
Potato rolls of golden fairy dust apparently. But they are oh-so-good.
We’re phasing back into eats for the week. Hopefully we’ll be completely back in action next week.
Here’s our pitiful pile of food for the week:
(I’m standing in the background. And it’s possible that my pants are undone to make room for the end-of-day girth. Just sayin. It’s possible.)
The menu this week…I’m almost embarrassed to share it:
Sunday: Taco Bell!!!
Monday: McDonalds!!! Hey, we were at the school board meeting and then we realized it was almost 7pm and we had no food in the house. And we’re adults SO WE CAN GO TO MCDONALDS WHENEVER WE WANT STOP JUDGING.
Tuesday: Pasta and asparagus (with feta for Ross – not for me because soft cheese, bad for pregnancy, etc. etc. I never really liked feta anyway)
Wednesday: Cookout with old friends. Read: free meal sponsored by friends’ parents!
Thursday: Steak soft tacos with avocados and lime
Friday: Tortellini and argula
Grand total? Around $20.
I should explain now that our grocery budget is going to be considerably less now that our vegetable co-op has started for the year. That was initial output of some major cash, but it will supply our vegetables from now until mid-October.
So, no budget buster or deal of the week this time around. BABY STEPS PEOPLE.
I almost didn’t do the eats for the week this week because the thought of sitting up to type it all out after sitting up and typing all day long reduced me to tears. Literally. But that’s another post entirely.
Here’s the food, kiddos.
I know, it doesn’t look like much, but it will be more than enough to feed the 2 and some change of us this week…
Monday: I had cornflakes and Ross had leftover pasta because for some reason we couldn’t muster the energy to do anything at all
Tuesday: Chicken quesadillas (despite my current poultry aversion)
Wednesday: Asparagus pasta
Thursday: Previously scheduled dinner out
Friday: Turkey burger sliders
The grand total: around $32, and that’s with the fancy schmancy spices that Ross picked up from Penzey’s this afternoon.
And your Deal Of The Week!
Ground turkey! $2.50 for 1.3 pounds at Kroger. But with hormones this time. I guess we’ll live.
No Budget Buster this week, kiddos. Not because I’m lazy, but because there just wasn’t anything that left us huffing and puffing about. And I’m probably kind of lazy.
I must say, Ross is doing a fabulous job handling the nutrition side of the manufacturing of our offspring. I mean, I guess he should because I’m doing most of the work here. I MADE EARS AND LIPS THIS WEEK, WHAT DID YOU DO?
Ahem.
Let’s look at the food, shall we?
Yes, there’s lots of milk there. There was a good deal at Costco.
Here’s the menu…
Monday: Szechuan broccoli, rice, and tofu
Tuesday: Cheese quesadillas with an appetizer of hummus
Wednesday: Leftover meatloaf, green beans, and mashed potatoes from Sunday
Thursday: Slow-cooked pork loin and salad
Grand total? Around $46. But keep in mind, we got a lot of organic milk and that was factored in.
Here’s your Deal Of The Week:
Two giant pork loins for $15. We’ll get at least 2 meals from each one AND one of them won’t be used until next week. BOOYAH.
And Ye Olde Budget Buster:
This bottle of lemon juice cost over $2, but Ross likes to put them in the smoothies he loving makes for me and the wee one. DON’T SAY WE NEVER GAVE YOU ANYTHING, FETUS.
The food! Let’s look it at!
(Please note these pictures haven’t made it to flickr yet. I’ve been busy doing important things like watching the Dog Whisperer and complaining about the rain.)
The menu! Let’s look at it!
Sunday which is usually not featured on our weekly rundown but I’m a giver: Tofu and szechuan broccoli with rice
Monday: BLT sliders and cheesy broccoli – actually they should be BSTs because we used spinach instead of lettuce
Tuesday: Baked potatoes and spinach salad
Wednesday: Turkey tacos
Thursday: Turkey meatloaf, mashed potatoes, green beans
Nothing super fancy here, but all SUPER GOOD.
Grand total! $39.40!
Deal Of The Week! Let’s see that also!
Thanks to a tip from The Suze, we headed over to Kroger and got two packages of turkey for $2.50 each. Not hormone-free but we’ll take it.
The Budget Buster! Let’s see that also!
Shredded cheddar cheese for $4.69. The exact same unit price as non-shredded cheese. But whatevs, it’s required for two of this week’s dishes.

Now that your favorite post of the week is over, I suggest you head over to The People’s Nature, the new love child of Ross and The Suze. It’s all about helping people be healthy and green without requiring them to be ridiculous.
It’s been a thrift week, guys. Check it out.
This week’s menu…
Monday: Curry chicken and rice
Tuesday: Leftover lentil burgers (and tots!)
Wednesday: Double-crust bean pie
Thursday: Chicken and avacado salsa
Friday: Some kind of leftover concoction
Grand total? $39.52.
We’re back in action, Jacksons!
Here’s your Deal Of The Week…
Richmond boys need their brew. Don’t worry. It’s like $3 for a six-pack.
And your sad, disappointing Budget Buster…
Ross was convinced you couldn’t buy bananas in anything other than a complete bunch at Kroger. So we jumped on the $.90/lb free-standing bananas at Ellwood Thompson’s. But, turns out Kroger had a selection of non-bunch bananas for $.70/lb. Oh well.
Guys. The menu is looking SO GOOD for this week. And less cheap than last week! It’s like a twofer!
Ok, take a look…
And now, Julie‘s favorite part! The menu!
Monday: Blueberry French Toast and bacon
Tuesday: Baked potatoes
Wednesday: BLTs
Thursday: Fend for yourself because I have a professional development adventure at the Science Museum
Friday: Lentil burgers
The grand total? $45.33
A considerable improvement over last week, so we’ll take it.
This week’s Deal Of The, uh, Week…
Lentils! For $1.49 a pound! And who the mess would ever need more than a pound of lentils?!?!?
And the budget buster…
A giant bag of frozen blueberries for almost $12. But, we’ll use them forever. Plus, blueberries are a superfood. Do you think superness comes cheap? NO.
I know! I know, I’m super late about posting this. But who’s the boss around here, huh? Stop judging. I’ve been doing important things.
So here’s the money shot.
And money shot is oh so appropriate this week. Before I tell you the painful number, here’s the menu:
Monday: Turkey meatloaf and cheesy broccoli
Tuesday: Hot dogs and tater tots
Wednesday: Chicken and rice
Thursday: Steamed broccoli and potato tortilla
Friday: Leftovers
There’s also some other stuff in there because we do, in fact, need to eat lunch sometimes.
The grand total? Somewhere around $50.
I know. But, it’s the setbacks that help us really appreciate the victories.
And now for your Deal Of The Week, presented by guest star, Sister!
Kroger special! 10 jars of salsa for $10. That deserves a w00t I would say.
And on to The Budget Buster…
Turkey. For a million dollars. A million delicious, hormone-free dollars.
