i’m hilarious

One of my responsibilities at work (one of my favorite ones, actually) is to help write profiles on the people to whom we attribute the quotes we run in our newsletters and what not. The next person on my list for today was Robert Yates. When I Googled his name, three options came up. And then the following conversation took place…

Me: Are we profiling Robert Yates the Anti-Federalist, Robert Yates the NASCAR guy, or Robert Yates the serial killer?

Co-worker: It’s the NASCAR guy - probably not as interesting as the serial killer but much more appropriate, morally speaking.

Me: Fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine.

I’m so proud I can’t stand it.

going to sleep happy

life — Valerie on September 24, 2007 at 9:24 pm

I had another fun and fabulous day at work during which I was exceptionally productive and felt exceptionally appreciated for said productivity.

I came home, made the right choice to go to the gym, and had an excellent workout.

I stopped at Ellwood Thompson’s to pick up something for dinner and happened upon the most beautiful strawberries I’ve seen in quite a while.

Ross and I cooked the pizza I picked up at Ellwood Thompson’s and it was wonderfully delicious, as were the strawberries.

I am currently at that point where I’m not exhausted, but just tired enough that I know when I go to bed, sleep will come quickly and fully.

What a wonderful, wonderful day.

I could either go to the gym OR stay right where I am and watch the marathon of America’s Next Top Model Cycle 5 for the ONE MILLIONTH time.

Ooooh, Tyra. You quite possibly could be Satan’s henchman. Damn you! Damn you and your fierce weave!

Weekend Wrap up

Friday: Super fun day at work. Dinner at Bacchus and party at MattWhite’s to celebrate Mariah’s birthday. Home to sleep.

Saturday: Haircut and color. Home to change and off to the gym. Home to shower. Dinner with Scott and Christi (and their INSANELY cute daughter, Halle) to discuss PharrOut Phinances. Home for much puttering. To bed.

Sunday: Slept until I woke up. Lunch at Can-Can with the in-laws. Picked up Grandma and took her to my dad’s for Robin and Matt’s going away party. Much eating and chatting. Dropped Grandma off. Home to putter and do laundry. Trying to get to bed early.

Have a great week, Internets!

one month to go!

etc. — Valerie on September 23, 2007 at 12:00 am

Please note that my birthday is one month from today. It’s true. On October 23rd I will turn 26. As you know, 26 means that I will officially be closer to 30 than to 20.

In order to make sure you are fully prepared for the festivities, I thought I would let you all in on my wish list so you’re not losing sleep over what to get me to commemorate this momentous occasion.

1. Anything for Nikole Sarvay’s Etsy shop. Anything. Seriously.

2. This chair.

3. A free, monthly appointment with these lovely ladies.

4. This house.

5. A ticket to go see these people.

Ok then. Hop to it! These presents aren’t going to buy themselves!

whoo funny every time

city life...and death, friends, favorite things — Valerie on September 22, 2007 at 2:25 pm

We went to MattWhite’s house last night (formerly known as James and Jennifer’s house) to continue our celebration of Mariah’s birthday party. Their backyard has been the host of several festivities, mostly because they have a fire pit. Yeah, that’s right.

Anyway, as most of the gatherings are boy-dominant, crazy antics usually happen. Last night involved Jake trying to hurdle over the trashcan in the alley. Of course there was lots of peer pressure, yelling of inappropriate things, and falling on the ground. Fun times, but not as funny as last New Year’s.

See, there’s a giant tree back there. And there was a rope in the tree. And an empty trashcan nearby. And Jake had had some beers. The video is dark, but the talking is the best part. The maniacal giggling in the background is my darling husband.

Enjoy:

After this post, my boss got me this book. Please note that I didn’t ask for it - it was suggested and this suggestion was simply taken.

So…

If one of you could suggest that a baby chimpanzee and Johnny Depp’s cell phone number are essential to creativity, I’d really appreciate it.

just saw sicko…
