Friday: Home and off to the store to get food for the tailgate. To the gym for an excellent workout. Home to watch Vera Drake. Off to bed early.
Saturday: Up by 6:00am to head to Blacksburg. Awesome time at the game. Quick meet up with a few friends. Back home to Richmond. Puttering and to bed very early.
Sunday: Slept until I woke up. Puttering and much watching of America’s Next Top Model. Off to Target to get various necessities. To church at 3:30. Churching and chatting before stopping at Taco Bell. Home to eat and watch Curb Your Enthusiasm. Puttering and to bed soon.
Have a great week!
I slept until I woke up. There is an America’s Next Top Model Marathon on. I don’t have to be anywhere until 3:30.
BEST DAY EVER!!!??!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
Alcohol is a depressant.
Ross and I went to Blacksburg today and had a very mini and very quick tailgate before heading over to the stadium at 11:15. During said tailgate (which probably lasted a little less than an hour) I had two Cape Cods. I don’t usually have two drinks a month, let alone in an hour.
And so, while sitting in Lane Stadium with about 60,000 people watching Tech beat UNC, do you know what I did?
I fell asleep.
It was only for a couple minutes, but still, who does that? Oh, yeah, ME.
This is why I don’t drink. Or maybe why I should drink more.
One of these did a fly-over at the Tech game today. It was perhaps one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen – I felt like my heart skipped a beat when it suddenly appeared out of the sky and slowly made its way over the stadium. Technology, wtf?
I started feeling a slight tickle in my throat today, accompanied by a runny nose and clogged up ears.
My throat is now scratchy and my back is aching a lot.
Meanwhile, my office-mate was out for two days with similar symptoms.
Dammit.
I just hope whatever this is will hold of until tomorrow night. I have a special date tomorrow!
Me: So, The Edge. How come he gets to have that name?
Ross: He just decided, I guess.
Me: So, not only is he a capitalized common noun, he gets to have an article in front of it?
Ross: Yes.
Me: Well, if he gets to, I get to.
Ross: Oh yeah?
Me: Yeah. If he’s The Edge, then I’m The Curve.
Ross: You should be Some Curves, just to set yourself apart a bit.
Me: Perfect. I’m totally going to put this on my blog.
Ross: Make sure you credit me with the awesome name.
Me: Done.
Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone,
Prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone,
Silence the pianos and with muffled drum
Bring out the coffin, let the mourners come.
Let aeroplanes circle moaning overhead
Scribbling on the sky the message He Is Dead,
Put crêpe bows round the white necks of the public
doves,
Let the traffic policemen wear black cotton gloves.
He was my North, my South, my East and West,
My working week and my Sunday rest,
My noon, my midnight, my talk, my song;
I thought that love would last for ever: I was wrong.
The stars are not wanted now: put out every one;
Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun;
Pour away the ocean and sweep up the wood.
For nothing now can ever come to any good.
-W.H. Auden
A copy of this poem is taped to my monitor at work and I tear up every time I see it. I don’t even have to read it; just knowing what it says is enough. I keep it there because, to me, it shows how powerful simpicity and transparency really are.
I started moving into my new office today! With a door! And a window! And a wall! Huzzah!
The floors are still not finished. And I don’t care at all.
Last time I weighed myself, I tipped the scales at 119.8lbs. That’s a total loss of 20.2lbs and holding steady.
No, we are not having a baby yet.
I got to real-time chat with Jennifer on the Internet today. It was very exciting.
Ross and I get to have a date every Tuesday night thanks to my amazingly generous bosses who don’t require us to come in until 11:15 on Wednesdays. We’ve been able to reconnect and I will be forever grateful for it.
I am knitting absolutely nothing.
I do not miss teaching.
We are going to the Tech/UNC game this weekend.
I’m currently showing no symptoms of TMJ.
Ross got Halo 3 today.
I hate Microsoft.
